Software programs installed and run on computers are highly complex systems. In addition to the user interface with all of its menus, dialog boxes and buttons, an application also includes online help, printed documentation, files such as the all-important readme file and license, as well as advertising and packaging materials. And all of these components must be adapted to the local markets for which they are intended.

Localization companies must have considerable technical expertise and the necessary existing hardware and available tools to master the task.
